The layout will use Infra Red Detection of Trains (IRDOT) from Heathcote Electronics.

This system uses infra-red beams to detect passing trains and is hidden between sleepers in the track.

A typical use for this system is once a train has passed to turn a signal red and then use a MAS-Sequencer to turn the signal through the appropriate colours back to green to emulate the passing of a train.
