Baseboard construction

The model covers an area of 19′ by 8′. The main part of the layout is 19′ x 4′ and the fiddle yard area is 19′ by 2′. Two small pieces connect them together.

The supports are 4×2 construction lumber, screwed together, typically making a base 36″x18″ by 30″ high. They are connected together by one or two 4x2s and everything is screwed together.

The baseboards are made from MDF 8’x4′ cut to size as appropriate. They have been screwed down.

Finally the track areas are covered in a 1/8″ closed cell foam underlayment.
